The New England Patriots fell to the Houston Texans last night, losing 20 to 9. There were many lows from the Patriots side, but there were multiple great moments from the preseason game. Here is my list of the three players who stood out to me.

1) Keion White

Talk about a debut. Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have found yet another Diamond in the Rough with defensive end Keion White. Every time White was on the field you could expect pressure from the rookie. Keion White would finish the game with two tackles and a forced fumble. White was great forcing the QB to throw the ball, CJ Stroud and Davis Mills were under constant pressure from the whole defensive line. Patriot fans are looking forward to more from Keion White.

2) Jalen Mills

Outstanding, One of the many words that can describe Mills’ performance vs the Texans. Mills filled right in where Devin McCourty left off, From one ball hawk to another. Mills took the leadership role of the defense, the Green Goblin would finish the day two tackles and an interception. What a day for the veteran DB.

3) Malik Cunningham

Malik Cunningham the spark of the Patriots offense last night. Malik Cunningham is the mobile QB the Patriots have always needed, the QB Draws were killing the Houston Texans defense. Cunningham’s stocks went up after his internet breaking performance. Malik Cunningham would complete three of his four passes for 19 yards with a QBR of 87.3. Cunningham would shine on the ground five carries for 34 yards and one touchdown, the UDFA Rookie would have a 6.8 yard average per attempt. Patriot fans are joining the Malik Cunningham hype. The Patriots may have found a Diamond in the Rough.

Karver’s final thoughts:

The Patriots have a lot of work to do before the next preseason game vs the Green Bay Packers. There were some great moments from the Texans game, Kayshon Boutte, Thyrick Pitts, and the RB core tried their best to get things going but the Offensive Line struggle slowed the offense down completely. The defensive line raised their stock, especially Jeremiah Pharms Jr. The Patriots got some great notes on the younger guys and will hope to bounce back in week two of preseason vs the Green Bay Packers.
