The New England Patriots have cut down their roster to the league’s 53-man requirements, there are a few players who are worth earning that extra turning off the head. My eyes will be watching the players listed below very closely to see how they do in regular-season football.

Calvin Anderson (OT)

The New England Patriots have activated the veteran offensive tackle off the Non Football injury list. Early on in the preseason New Englands’ offensive line had some major struggles especially during the preseason games.  Anderson was most recently a part of the Denver Broncos this previous season and recorded a 65.0 PFF grade, an overall average grade but, the 27 year old tackle played 439 total snaps and only allowed two sacks. Pretty good numbers if you ask me, and I would expect the OT to get more reps this season with the Patriots and be a good mentor to the younger tackles in the locker room (Sidy Sow (Rookie) , Tyrone Wheatley Jr (Via Trade), and Vederian Lowe (Via Trade).  Calvin Anderson is going to be a huge improvement to the Patriots offensive line.

Sam Roberts (DL)

The 25 year old 6-foot-5 300 pound defensive lineman has made the Patriots 53 man roster and he is a name to watch this season. Sam Roberts had himself a great 2023 preseason 14 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack. Roberts is going to be a great addition to the special teams unit and the goalline. Bill Belichick has found himself a diamond in the rough with Sam Roberts the 2022 sixth round pick. Coach Belichick needs the young DL to step up and make an instant impact in the defensive front.

Kayshon Boutte (WR)

The sixth round pick has officially made the Patriots roster after not a good but a great  preseason and training camp. The rookie out of LSU recorded four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown, Boutte would also have an average of 14 yards per reception. I expect the number to increase over the course of the 2023 season, the future of the Patriots receiving core starts this season with rookies Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte.

Karver’s Thoughts:

Lots and lots of news regarding the Patriots QB position however, I expect the Patriots to figure out an answer to the situation. The three players being mentioned above Calvin Anderson, Sam Roberts, and Kayshon Boutte I expect a big year from all three. We will see how the Patriots adapt over time with the recent roster moves.
