Seven NFL Players that had successful careers in NFL Europe

NFL Europe, also known as NFL Europa, was a professional American football league operated by the NFL from 1991 to 2007. It served as a developmental league for the NFL, giving players an opportunity to refine their skills and potentially earn a spot on an NFL roster.
Several players who had stints in NFL Europe went on to have successful careers in the NFL. Here are some notable NFL players who played in NFL Europe:
- Kurt Warner – Kurt Warner’s story is one of the most famous NFL Europe success stories. He played for the Amsterdam Admirals in 1998 and had an outstanding season, which eventually led to his breakthrough in the NFL. Warner became a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
- Jake Delhomme – Delhomme played in NFL Europe with the Frankfurt Galaxy in 1999. He had a strong season, and after returning to the NFL, he became the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers and led them to Super Bowl XXXVIII.
- Adam Vinatieri – Before becoming one of the most accomplished kickers in NFL history, Adam Vinatieri spent the 1995 season with the Amsterdam Admirals in NFL Europe.
- James Harrison – Harrison, a dominant linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, played in NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire in 2003. He used the opportunity to showcase his skills and eventually became one of the most feared defensive players in the NFL.
- Brad Johnson – Johnson, who had a long and successful NFL career as a quarterback, played in NFL Europe for the London Monarchs in 1995.
- David Akers – Akers, one of the most prolific kickers in NFL history, played in NFL Europe with the Berlin Thunder in 1999 before making his mark in the NFL.
- Jon Kitna – Kitna from the NAIA was able to get signed and play for Barcelona back in 1997. He would end up backing up Warren Moon for sometime in Seattle before taking over as the starting QB.
These players are just a few examples of NFL stars who used their time in NFL Europe as a stepping stone to success in the NFL. With leagues like the XFL and USFL now happening, they all provide a valuable developmental platform and helped players refine their skills, leading to successful careers at the highest level of American football.
