Player Summary:

6th YR GR and 4 yr full-time starter at DB where he aligns predominantly at SS in the 3-3-5 Nickel and 3-4 defense of MOSE in a 1 and 2 high safety look. He possesses average height, marginal weight and adequate speed with an athletic build and solid length. He is a solid athlete showing a combination of good explosiveness and acceleration, solid lateral quickness and agility, average COD and balance with solid top end play speed. He is very good against the run. He shows above-average football intelligence as he keys and diagnoses the play. He displays solid UOH and play strength as he sheds blocks from slot WR with subpar play strength. He exhibits good instincts and range as he plays SL to SL taking good angles in pursuit before exhibiting good explosiveness and solid play strength as he makes the tackle preventing a gain of significant yardage. He displays solid ball skills as he locates the ball and times his hands well as he disrupts the trajectory of the ball for a PBU. In off-man coverage, he gets average depth in his backpedal and displays solid ability to carry TE and slot WR with ordinary play speed down the seam as he uses his solid play speed to stay in phase. In instances where he is asked to blitz, he is quick off the ball and uses his above-average closing speed in pursuit before finishing up with a sack or QBH. He shows solid recovery ability if initially beaten in off-man. He displays good competitive toughness as he rises to the occasion in the redzone as well as on 3rd down. He displays ordinary awareness while in zone coverage as WR with good FBI and route running ability are able to find the soft spot in his zone. Lack of quality COD allows slot WRs with good hip fluidity to create separation on in and out breaking routes while in off-man.

Scheme Fit:

SS due to his very good ability against the run.

Power Statement:

Experienced, tough, rangy player who excels against the run and plays faster than his listed 40 time. He is an effective blitzer and can stay with TE and slot WR with ordinary play speed down the seam. Lack of quality hip fluidity enables WR with good route running ability to gain separation on in and out breaking routes while in off-man.
