Pittman’s Pocket: Five of the Best HBCU football players to watch in 2023

Isaiah Major, LB, FAMU
A Preseason All-SWAC First Team, that always makes plays. Major is a beast who has a motor on the defensive side of the football. He is a playmaker that is constantly around the ball. He will be a problem for opposing offenses in 2023.
Eli Fields, OT, Southern
Fields was an All-SWAC 2nd Team All-Conference player out of Southern. Will turn heads when the season comes around. He is a very athletic tackle standing at 6’5 and weighing 300 pounds.
Kenny Gallop, DB, Howard
Gallop played in 10 games and was named an All-MEAC First Team selection. He was second in the MEAC in tackles per game with 93. He finished with 63 unassisted tackles and 30 assisted tackles, and 7.5 tackles for loss. He is a 6’1 corner with great range.
Sundiata Anderson, DE, Grambling State
A 2x All-SWAC Defensive End, with a great first step. I would not be shocked if Sunny ☀️😎 is a day 2 projection in the 2024 NFL Draft. He is a 6’5 pass rusher with power.
Anim Dankwah, OT, Howard
Dankwah is a man among boys on the field. He stands at 6’8 and has a massive wingspan. He played in 11 all games and was named an All-MEAC First Team selection. With a solid year, he could end up at a top-tier All-Star game.
