Former NFL football player and Commanders broadcaster Fred Smoot arrested in Virginia
Former NFL standout cornerback and Washington Commanders broadcaster Fred Smoot was arrested in Virginia for failure to comply with support obligations, according to TMZ Sports.
Smoot who played nine seasons in the NFL with Washington and Minnesota is no stranger to run-ins with the law, but the 44-year-old turned himself in yesterday around 11 am.
Smoot remained in custody through this morning.
Fred is an employee of Washington Commanders. Smoot will be replaced by former tight end Doc Walker as a color commentator for the Commanders game tonight against the Browns.
Smoot finished his playing career with 21 interceptions and 104 career starts.
