Player Summary:

6th-year senior with a long frame, slender & athletic build, and intriguing length. Long-strider given his 6’3” frame. Has appeared in 42 games during his Washington career – the most amongst all Huskies on the 2023 roster. Started 12 of 13 games in Washington’s 4-2-5 defense in 2022; Rotated between the Strong Safety & HUSKY (Nickel) positions regularly throughout the season. Proficient coverage DB who appears most comfortable in press-man coverage. Patient hands and strong punch off the LOS. Possesses fluid hips and quality COD while transitioning out of his pedal. Uses length well to maintain a cushion while in phase. Also, boasts great straight-line and recovery speed to stay within the receiver’s hip pocket on long-developing routes. Sufficient coverage ability in off-man; Tends to get caught flat-footed against skilled route runners on short/intermediate routes; Gives up too much separation at the top of the route. Questionable ball skills at the catch point. Low ball production and lack of adequate ball judgment to win contested catches consistently. Makes up for deficient ball skills with a physical and reliable tackling ability in open space. A high-level competitor with proficient burst and closing speed to pursue the ball from sideline to sideline. Sharp read & react skills and reactionary quickness to diagnose the play before it develops. More than willing to drop down into the box in run support or blitz from the Nickel spot. Played special teams for the majority of his Washington career, so he has valuable special teams versatility under his belt. Projects best as a Strong Safety at the next level provided his physicality, tackling ability, willingness to play in the box, and range to cover the backend. Ball skills and production are concerning, but his physical traits and athletic ability are too crucial to ignore.

Scheme Fit:

Scheme-versatile Strong Safety

Power Statement:

Projected Strong Safety with great physical measurements, play speed, and toughness. Boasts a relatively well-rounded skill set for a defensive back of his size, but ball skills and production need work.
