Player Summary:
6th-year senior with very good height, and a well-built, twitchy lower half. Transferred to Boise State from Washington State after four seasons with the Cougars. Started all 13 games at Right Tackle in his first year with the Broncos in 2022. Dominant pass protector at the G5 level last season; Frequently shut down the opposing pass rush on the right side of the line. Flashed high-level footwork, technique, and lateral agility in his pass set. Uses fluid footwork, proficient body quickness, and an effective kick step to beat EDGE rushers to the spot. Stays in front of speed rushers who attempt to run the arc by keeping his body square to the LOS. Uses heavy hands to control the POA when he gets inside the frame of a pass rusher. Strong hand use allows him to counter rush moves and keep defenders at arm’s length. Displays leverage inconsistency in his pass set, which leaves him susceptible to the bull rush at times. Able to recover and anchor using significant play strength and good contact balance & body control. Solid initial quickness and sharp awareness of hat & hand placement to establish a leverage advantage in the running game. Transitions smoothly out of his stance and climbs to the second level efficiently with sneaky play speed and COD. A tough competitor with an evident mean streak who plays to the whistle on every snap. Finishes blocks regularly but would like to see him unlock his hips to roll through contact rather than relying on play strength to get defenders on the ground. An intriguing RT prospect to keep an eye on throughout the 2023 season.
Scheme Fit:
Right Tackle/Guard in a primary zone blocking scheme.
Power Statement:
Beresford is a well-rounded offensive lineman who possesses a high athletic upside, an aggressive play style, and impactful pass and run-blocking abilities. Should establish himself as one of the top offensive line prospects in the Mountain West in 2023.
