Player Summary:

5th yr. senior.  Starts at ILB.  Marginal height with a lot of raw tools.  Above-average in pass coverage, marginal run defender and below-average pass rusher.  As a run defender, he is average.  Has good instincts and is quick to diagnose and react to the ball.  Can stick his nose in a pile around the GL.  Good range – displays good pursuit skills and is a good lateral mover.  Has good closing speed on ball carriers in space.  Needs to work on taking better angles as both a pass rusher and run defender.  Will over pursue and struggle to wrap up at the point of contact.  Is inconsistent with filling in his gap especially on OZ runs.  Gets neutralized when blocked and needs to bend and shed better.  More of a wrap-up tackler instead of a hard hitter who can dent and knock back runners.  As a pass rusher, he is below-average.  Can be a very explosive Blitzer but gets neutralized one-on-one too much and struggles to rip or shed.  Missed a couple of would-be sacks in the games viewed just because he couldn’t finish.  In pass coverage, he is good.  Showed he can drop back, cover and carry receivers.  Made some pass breakups and showed good timing/use of hands.  Played safety in HS.

Scheme Fit:

ILB in a 3-4.

Power Statement:

Aaron is a solid LB prospect who is good in pass coverage, below-average as a pass rusher and marginal as a run defender.  If he can shed blocks better and display ability to take better angles to the ball carriers and backfield, he has a chance to be a high-quality prospect.
