Player Summary:
RS Senior from Orlando, FL. Primarily aligned X/Z WR at South Florida while playing in the slot 19% of the time. Adequate height, marginal weight, with good AA, acceleration, lateral quickness, good COD, and balance. Arm length appears sufficient. Underdeveloped upper and lower body with room to gain good weight. Good inside and outside release using good foot speed to get CB out of phase early. Good separation quickness due to above-average muscle twitch as well as good foot speed. He can run any route in the route tree with good acceleration and precise footwork through his cuts. He shows good understanding of safeties coverages, exploiting the seam with good decision making. Good body control, he has the ability to adjust and secure the ball on throws all around his frame while on the move or stationary. Good high pointing the ball with good timing, on underthrown balls he shows good effort working back to the QB and getting his hands under the ball to finish the catch. Good YAC ability, he is efficient transitioning from receiver to runner by flipping his head upfield quickly after catching the ball. Good ball carrier vision, elusiveness in space due to good COD, and contact balance. Solid run blocker, he gets his body in a good position where he can seal off the defender from the play call, he does not create much push because of his size. Things he can improve upon include securing catches before looking upfield as a ball carrier and extending his arms to make contested catches over the middle. He has experience as a punt returner and does so in a solid manner making tacklers miss consistently.
Scheme Fit:
WR in a pass-heavy system aligning in the slot and outside. Should be used to stretch defenses vertically to create opportunities for others, while being a deep threat for the offense.
Power Statement:
Weaver creates good separation at all three levels and should be an immediate contributor at the next level. He is limited by his body composition and will likely have to do most of his work from the slot position.
