Overview:

The USFL season has come to an end however, this is not the end to all these great men’s journey to the NFL, it is just the beginning. Let me know below what you think will make an NFL Training Camp/Roster!

This is who New England Sports Review thinks makes a run at NFL Training camp

#1: Alex McGough, Birmingham Stallions Quarterback:

The 2023 MVP Alex McGough would have one hell of a season. This man was incredible, absolutely incredible. McGough is a USFL Champion, and man oh man! He had himself a season. The star QB would complete 180 of his 267 passes for 2,104 yards with 20 touchdowns and only five interceptions. The Dual-threat QB would have 70 rushing attempts for 403 yards and five touchdowns. MCGOUGH WAS INCREDIBLE.

Championship Stats: 18-25 passing, 243 yards with four touchdowns. Mind Blowing, but thats not all. Nine rushing attempts for 64 yards. McGough was incredible all season.

#2 Corey Coleman, Philadelphia Stars Wide Receiver :

Corey Coleman was named to the All-USFL 2023 Team. Coleman, the former NFL wide receiver, came to USFL for an opportunity to show the league he still has it. The shifty wideout sure does, Coleman led the league in receiving yards and was the best WR in the league. Coleman would have 51 receptions for 669 yards and four touchdowns. Coleman showed he at least deserves another shot at the NFL Dream.

#3 Frank Ginda, Michigan Panthers Linebacker:

Frank Ginda is your 2023 USFL Defensive Player of the Year, the linebacker is a legit monster. 104 Total Tackles is outstanding! Leading the USFL all season in tackles is a huge accomplishment. Ginda would add a sack and three interceptions as well as two forced fumbles. This man has to be on an NFL Practice Squad at least. Just an outstanding player all around.

NFL Teams can expect a hard hitting, determined, passionate linebacker in Frank Ginda. A leader on and off the field is who Ginda is.

#4 Mark Thompson, Houston Gamblers Runningback:

Mark Thompson is your 2023 USFL Offensive Player of the Year, Mark Thompson is a great powerback and put on a show for USFL Fans. In eight games, Thompson would rush the ball 135 times with 653 yards and 14 touchdowns. Thompson led the league in rushing touchdowns and was in second place for rushing yards.

NFL Teams can expect a back who fights for every inch. Mark Thompson is a game changing back who turned the Gamblers season around once he hit the field.

#5 Derrick Dillon, Memphis Showboats WR/KR:

The Special team player of the year is… Derrick Dillon, this man had a 109 yard kick return off a missed field goal. Dillon had 1,108 All purpose yards, making big play after big play. 753 kick return yards, very great job from Dillon. As a receiver he was very solid, 28 receptions for 340 yards with one touchdown as well. He has proven he deserves a shot in the NFL.

NFL Teams can expect a great returner. A hard working man who doesn’t give up, he showed that he deserved a spot.

As we are leaving the top five here are some players who MAY make an NFL training camp.

#6 Mark Gilbert, Pittsburgh Maulers Defensive Back:

Mark Gilbert, Mr Shutdown locked up about every wide receiver every team threw at him. Gilbert would lead the league in interceptions at four and 15 pass breakups. I mean Gilbert would be a very solid addition to an NFL Roster/Practice Squad.

#7 Kyahva Tezino, Pittsburgh Mauler Linebacker:

Oh boy, this linebacker can do it all! Kyahva Tezino was someone who stood out in the 2023 season. Tezino was a HUGE part of the Maulers 2023 unstoppable defense. 94 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and, two touchdowns. THIS GUY WAS GREAT. Tezino deserves a spot at least on an NFL Practice Squad.

#8 CJ Marable, Birmingham Stallions Running Back:

The well-rounded RB would have one hell of a season, 118 rushing attempts for 525 yards with three touchdowns. CJ Marable is very good when it comes to rushing but he is very dangerous out of the backfield as well. Marable would have 235 yards out of the backfield as well as two receiving touchdowns. The well-rounded back would have 1,079 All-Purpose yards as well. CJ is someone who could definitely make a case in training camp he deserves to be on the final roster.

#9 Josh Simmons, Pittsburgh Maulers WR/KR:

Josh Simmons is an incredible kick returner. Simmons would record 862 kick return yards with one kickoff return for a touchdown. Once Number 38 touches the ball good luck bringing him down. As a receiver, Simmons would do some. Josh would finish the season with 16 receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown. This kid has heart and grit, he truly wants to be a great player. He works very hard every off-season and is looking for that opportunity. I can see an NFL team seeing the hard work and giving him a chance in a training camp.

#10 Luis Agular, Philadelphia Stars Kicker:

Luis Agular would lead the league in points, I mean he was incredible. 94 points led the league, Agular would make 25 out of his 29 field goal attempts (FG Percentage = 86.0 %) He would also make 24-25 Extra point attempts. (95.0%)

It would not surprise me if Agular made an NFL PS as a backup kicker. He deserves a spot at the very least!

A few names to watch for that just quite didn’t make the list!

(Name to watch for… Deon Cain, Championship MVP)

Davion Davis: A beast of a player, great wide out. Outstanding speed and a USFL Champion.

Vontae Diggs: A linebacker who never quits, he is incredible. Very quick and a very great leader. Someone you would want in a locker room for sure.
