Patriots second year Wide Receiver Tyquan Thornton is bound for a breakout year

Written by Karver Jordan
After a promising rookie season despite the confused Patriot’s Offense, Tyquan Thornton has been on my radar since the time he was drafted 50th overall by the Patriots in the 2022 draft. Thornton was outstanding at Baylor and was one of the fastest players in college football. Let’s take a look at his Baylor career and what his future looks like with the Patriots.
About Tyquan Thornton:
Age: 22
Height and Weight: Six foot two inches (6’2”) 185 pounds
College: Baylor
College Career: Tyquan Thornton would have an incredible college career, the speedy wideout would play in 47 games and would haul in 143 receptions for 2,242 yards with 19 touchdowns. Thornton was a very hard player to bring down and once he got into the open field good luck catching him. After the outstanding four years at Baylor, Thornton would head to the NFL Combine.
NFL Combine: At the NFL Combine, Thornton would shock the world and would run a 4.28 in the 40 yard-dash. Absolutely outstanding!
Rookie Season: The rookie season for the Baylor standout WR was pretty solid. In the 13 games Tyquan Thornton appeared in he would have 22 receptions for 247 yards while adding two touchdowns. Thornton would have four 20+ yard catches, as the season went on you could see defensive backs backing away from Thornton. The speed of Tyquan made the opposing defenses back off a little bit. Thornton would have three rushing attempts for 16 yards and one touchdown. Big things are ahead for rookie WR after a promising 2022 season.
Outlook for Tyquan Thorntons 2023-24 season:
After a promising rookie season, I personally think Tyquan Thornton is going to strive with the new and improved Patriots offense. I believe that Bill O’Brien is going to bring out the best version of Tyquan Thornton we have ever seen. The speedy wideout looks to have added some more muscle, we love to see this! My prediction for Thornton in the 2023-24 season is 55 receptions for 705 yards and six touchdowns.
Writers final thoughts:
I loved Tyquan Thronton coming out of Baylor and I love him on the Patriots. He is going to be a great fantasy football draft pick. He is going to be a late round diamond for fantasy football lovers. Looking forward to seeing the speedy wide receiver at Patriots training camp!
