Player Summary:
SR and 1 yr full-time starter at TE where he lines up inline, in the slot, and occasionally out wide in the zone/power blocking scheme of MAHA. He possesses adequate height, ordinary weight with good speed, and an athletic build. He is a solid athlete showing a combination of good explosiveness with solid COD, acceleration, lateral quickness and agility, average balance, and solid play speed. He is a good run blocker. He fires out quickly and displays above-average UOH in his punch, placement, and timing. Generates solid movement at the POA against 7T/Wide 9 with adequate size with his good foot drive and grip strength creating a lane for the RB. He is above-average in pass pro keeping his feet moving and exhibits good UOH and solid play strength to negate the progress of the EDGE with ordinary explosiveness and physical toughness. He displays quality FBI as he reads the defense and finds the soft spot in the zone with average hip fluidity as he breaks off his stem. Shows solid hands as he makes the catch with his hands close to his body. He shows average contact balance as he keeps his feet moving on contact when hit by DB with ordinary hip explosiveness and form tackling ability enabling him to pick up extra yardage after the catch. He does a good job of adjusting his body to passes thrown low. Exhibits above-average ability to work his way back to the QB on broken plays. In contested catch situations, he shows good leaping ability enabling him to highpoint the ball and make the catch in traffic. Displays quality competitive toughness both physically at the POA when blocking and mentally as he rises to the occasion late in both halves and while in the red zone. Lack of quality play speed prevents him from outrunning DB and LB with good acceleration and gaining significant YAC consistently. In addition, his lack of quality play speed causes him to be ordinary when trying to separate from SAF with solid AA in off-man at the top of his route.
Scheme Fit:
YTE due to his prowess as a blocker.
Power Statement:
Tough, intelligent player who excels as a blocker and is reliable in the passing game as a receiver. Lack of quality play speed prevents him from gaining significant YAC and separating against SAF in off-man at the top of his route consistently. A player with exemplary character, a hard worker who has persevered, battling through cancer during his time in high school, and now considered to be the top TE in the Ivy League.
