Player Summary:
Taylor Morin is a 5th-year junior slot WR with four seasons of starting experience. Possesses a tiny frame with poor height and weight, and notably short arms. He is a lethal underneath threat in the passing game due to his impressive athletic profile. Shows a smooth release combined with solid burst to get off the LOS quickly. Great acceleration to increase his speed quickly, and his ability to fly by defenders makes him a deep threat. A crisp route-runner who creates separation with his rare athletic traits and his ability to manipulate the defensive back’s hips. Excellent hip fluidity to stem his routes seamlessly and has the ability to run the full route tree. Elite ability to change direction in space that makes him a dangerous target at the short/intermediate level. Soft, reliable hands that bring in everything thrown into his strike zone. Exceptional foot speed, lateral agility, and balance help him make defenders miss in space. Accelerates quickly to pick up additional yards after the catch. Many of his deficiencies stem from his small stature. He must align off the ball as he will not be able to defeat press coverage due to marginal functional strength. Will get knocked off his route with ease against physical defensive backs. Has a small strike zone due to his short arm length. Struggles to make catches away from his body. When the quarterback scrambles out of the pocket, shows a tendency to continue drifting downfield rather than finding an open lane. Not a threat to pick up yards after contact. While he shows effort and desire to make an impact as a blocker, he cannot sustain blocks due to his lack of size and strength. Despite his insufficient size, his ability to be an impact player cannot be denied.
Scheme Fit:
Translates best as a slot WR at the next level who can be utilized as a target on any level of the field.
Power Statement:
An undersized slot WR with rare athletic traits and crisp route-running ability that makes him a threat in all levels of the passing game. His size and lack of strength hinder his game in a number of areas, but he is skilled enough to overcome this.
