NFL Teams Most Likely to End Long Playoff Droughts in 2023?

The 2023 NFL season is on the horizon, and a few teams will be looking to end their playoff droughts and make sensational returns to the Superbowl. The teams most needing playoff success in 2023 include the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and Detroit Lions.

Reaching the playoffs and Superbowl success requires intelligent recruitment in the draft – a mixture of youth and experience, excellent coaching staff, favorable fixtures, and a heap of good fortune. Find out who to watch for this year’s NFL season; you might be surprised.

New York Jets

The New York Jets finished 29th in the NFL last season, well off a playoff position, which isn’t good enough for their loyal fan base and the club’s expectations. It seems this low position has motivated them to take action and enlist some of the prospects from the Super Bowl winners.

This year’s playoff hopes hinge on the Jet’s latest acquisition, quarterback Aaron Rodgers who has shored up the slack defense from 2022. Rodgers links up with his old Packers teammate Allen Lazard and Randell Cobb, and if the chemistry is still there, you should check out the NFL betting lines.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have an excellent outside chance of reaching the playoffs this season, thanks to some good fixtures ahead. The Denver Broncos also have some cap space remaining, between $30-40 million, giving them an advantage in the next round of picks.

All of this together puts the Denver Broncos in a strong position for the playoffs and could be a good bet for the Super Bowl if they’re smart with their acquisitions and address a few concerns in the team. Look out for new acquisitions from the ambitious manager George Paton.

Detroit Lions

You should look at the Detroit Lions for the 2023 NFL season if you prefer a sure thing. The Detroit Lions are strong contenders to make the playoffs in the 17-game regular season. But some defensive upgrades are needed.

The men behind the defensive work are Aaron Glenn and Brad Holmes, who have identified youth as their primary strength in the 2023 season. Expect the Detroit Lions to strengthen further in the draft with a combination of youth and experience, making them a formidable team this year.

Atlanta Falcons

A five-year playoff drought isn’t acceptable for the Atlanta Falcons, who have fallen from relevance in the NFL, but 2023 could be their chance to step back into the fold. There are good reasons for fans of the Falcons to be optimistic about success in the 2023 season.

Firstly, the Falcons have recruited well this season, maintaining a healthy salary cap space that opens the door to significant upgrades in free agency. Secondly, they have a decent schedule that could help them push into a playoff berth.

Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers may not be the first team you consider when considering playoff contenders. Still, it looks like they’re in with a chance in the 2023 season, thanks to talented coaches and the opportunity to secure a marquee quarterback to break their hex.

If you’re looking for hard numbers, ESPN’s 2023 NFL Index suggests that Carolina Panthers have a 34.9% chance of reaching the playoffs this season, which is not insignificant. These figures are not plucked out of the sky, either. The Panthers will be looking for more consistency this year.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have a strong track record of reaching the playoffs in recent years, 2021 being the last time they made it. However, fortune is not in their favor in 2023 if the recruitment and early analysis have anything to say. The Packers have a relatively young, inexperienced squad.

Seasoned quarterback Jordan Love will pass to a team of young inexperienced receivers up top, which could go one of two ways. Of course, never say never; the Packers still have experience in the coaching staff, but getting to the playoffs requires older heads on the field.

Conclusion

The 2023 NFL season looms on the horizon, and a few teams are looking to end their prolonged droughts and achieve Superbowl success for the first time. The above teams are not the first teams you think of, but they have a chance.

It promises to be another NFL season filled with excitement and surprises, and these teams will be hoping to compete and find long-awaited success. Some will be satisfied by reaching the playoffs, but for others, such as the Green Bay Packers, only a Superbowl is likely to be enough for forlorn fans. All NFL fans should stay tuned for an exciting and unpredictable 2023 season.
