Player Summary:

rSr. A 6th year player, he will be playing for his 3rd school as of this year. He is primarily used as a stand up edge and occasionally finds himself involved in various intermediate and short coverage responsibilities. He has a chiseled frame and base, with room to bulk.

He possesses a solid first step and agility off snap from the upright stance, which follows him to the 3 point stance, combining his very good UOH and sturdy bend, and array of moves to arc around the Tackle, or cut inside for spins, hand chucks, stabs, and bull rushes among other moves. He possesses a very fluid and smooth motion and control, which plays off of excellent contact balance allowing him to move around and under blocks. He chooses good angles in pursuit, maintains excellent leverage, and is dependable with limited coverage responsibilities in short zone, and in man covering a back out of the backfield. In pass rush, he adapts to his blocker and will attack with a move that gives him the best chance to the QB. He uses fluid hips for COD in cuts. Solid functional strength allows him to fight through blocks, reading and reacting against the run and keep himself within the ball-carrier radius. He keeps high awareness in zone coverage, keeping range with the receiver as well as run plays where he finds ways to jam a play.

A consistent drawback is lack of explosiveness and twitch from the snap, which allows a blocker to adjust and adapt to his pass rush moves, and react to his UOH. This carries to his lateral movement which prevents him from closing many plays, and limiting his contain ability on the edge. He will struggle with receivers due to functional speed and start and stop limitations, making him vulnerable in man coverage.

Scheme Fit

3-4 Edge, and with some time to familiarize, a 4-3 OLB.

Power Statement

He has a high awareness, and plays with good effort and consistency. He will need to increase his twitch and burst for him to find elevated success.
