Who are the 10 Biggest AFC One-Hit Wonders?

One-Hit Wonders are players that had a great year and then disappeared off the face of the earth. Our friends at TPS broke down their top 10 list below, so I thought I would share 5 players that had big-time potential and fell off the face of the earth.
Let me do my top 5 list of both AFC and NFC players and then you can check out the TPS list on AFC guys only. I want to see your list, so let us know who had a big-time career that started and then fell off.
- Tim Tebow – Let’s face it the guy beat the Steelers in the playoffs and then fell off
- Larry Brown – Dude had a crazy Super Bowl performance and then got paid by the Raiders before falling off the map.
- David Tyree – He made the best catch ever in a Super Bowl and you never heard of him again.
- Timmy Smith – Another guy that went wild in the Super Bowl and fell off the map
- Gary Barnidge – Had a massive year playing tight end then disappeared
The term “one-hit wonder” is mostly used for singers, bands, and musicians who became famous for one major song…and not a whole lot else. Think of “My Sharona” by The Knack, “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice, and “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus.
But oh, it’s also the perfect term to summarize the careers of countless athletes — including NFL players. For many footballers, everything came together for one magical year — and then they unexpectedly tailed off the rest of the way. Here is a dive into the 10 biggest one-hit wonders in the AFC.
