Did the Chiefs make a mistake to let Kadarius Toney be their number 1? He went down with an injury today
Kadarius Toney is already injured and practice just began. The Chiefs hope Toney can be their true number one receiver but he has been in the news more than he makes plays on the field.
In Toney’s first two NFL seasons he has dealt with a number of injuries and his third training camp is not going his way either.
According to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, Toney tweaked his knee early in Sunday’s practice and did not participate in the rest of the session. Toney’s injury came during a special teams drill and there’s no word on his outlook for the coming days.
Toney joined the Chiefs in a midseason trade with the Giants last year but only played in two regular-season games after suffering a hamstring injury.
He returned for the playoffs and had a key punt return and a touchdown catch in the Super Bowl LVII win over the Eagles.
That playmaking ability is huge for the Chiefs but did they put all their eggs in one basket? Should they have went after DeAndre Hopkins or another star wide receiver?
