Player Summary:

Fifth-Year Junior (COVID). DL Rotation. Wide-Frame Defensive Lineman that has strong fluid arms, active hands, with solid first step off the ball. He’s solid as a pass-rusher and in run defense. Don’t really believe he can be moved inside as a G or T but has been used in drop cover situations from the tackle spot. Can play standing up, 3-tech, and 4-tech but seems to play more comfortably in 4; Don’t see much of a bend at times but keeping him with his hands in the dirt seems to isolate that and allow him to sort of launch out of his stance and catch OLs off balance and on their heels. Likes to play off-set of the G or T. Nice motor; will constantly fight off the block at the POA. Has good ability to read-and-react and adjust well to moving quarterbacks. Couple of highlights have shown his potential to trackdown ball-carriers side-line regardless if  he’s doubled or not (TXAM, VAUN, GATC). Due to his frame at DE, he tends to get stood up often making power rushes not a recommended go-to for him. The playing field is more balanced when he uses more speed and quickness over power. Coverage skills will be a question. Seen him in drop coverage in a spy role but not sure if he can actually cover out of the backfield if need be. Does sub in and out a lot of games, could be stamina. Does occasionally get washed down in run schemes.

Scheme Fit:

DE in 4-3/5-2

Power Statement:

Harvey is a good athlete that has promising potential but has yet to produce in an increased role that gives us a precise view of him. In his 5th year at Miami, he has the opportunity to make the jump like prospects before him to prove why he’s a draft-worthy talent.
