Summary:
Senior w/one year of eligibility left. RB starter. Will occasionally flex out to WR. Compact frame with big thighs and hamstrings. Good all-around running back who is a good blocker, effective inside runner and displays good hands out of the backfield. Has decent COD and can run off tackle, but is much better as an inside runner. Has a low pad level and consistently finishes forward on contact. Strong in short yardage, consistently picks up first downs, and can gain positive yards even when blocking isn’t the best. Exhibits good instincts – has good vision and patience to follow blocks. Has decent burst through the LOS and good initial quickness to the hole. Wastes no time getting vertical. Has good balance – can spin off tackles and break through contact. Is a very good blocker especially in the spread offense they run; can stick and neutralize rushers, including many who are much bigger than him; displays good knee bend and hand placement. Has good hands and adjustment to the ball as a receiver; caught a TD late v. KYUN. Primary flaw is a lack of breakaway speed and explosiveness. Gets caught from behind, isn’t very shifty in the open field, had some opportunities that he should have taken to the house. Not a home-run threat with the ball in his hands. Lacks production – had just one game over 100 yards rushing all year – but not necessarily bad given how much they pass. Would like to see him make a bigger impact in 2023.
Scheme Fit:
RB
Power Statement:
Jabari is a solid all-around running back. He has strong abilities as a blocker which is necessary for pass-happy NFL offenses. His lack of top-end speed and explosiveness are concerns, but he adds value as a good inside runner who can consistently pick up first downs.
