Talk about your experience as a student. What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?

As a student at TAMUK, I have made lifelong relationships and learned many important lessons along the way. Kingsville has given me a very ecstatic college experience. I graduated my undergrad with a major in Criminology and a minor in Sociology. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Education. Unfortunately, I did not participate in any organized clubs/organizations, however, I spent a lot of time giving back to the amazing community of Kingsville.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

My teammates would say my best quality is the way that I lead by example. I take pride in always going hard myself and that helps my teammates get better as well. I also encourage my teammates whether things are good or bad.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?

I am a leader and a player that creates a very energetic atmosphere for the team. I am a very versatile player allowing me to be a great fit for any scheme. A 4-2-5 scheme would best fit my skill set because of my ability to play cornerback and nickel. I’m also electrifying in the return game.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

The best player I ever played against is Kader Kohou. The toughness and the physical that he played with, as some would say is an undersized DB, was exciting to watch. He is now a member of the Miami Dolphins.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?

I would say Jeff Lavarin impresses me the most because of his freakish athleticism and confidence. Playing alongside him pushes me to become a better competitor on and off the field.

What makes you different from others in your position?

My versatility separates me from others. My ability to play multiple positions in the backend and be able to return/block kicks on special teams.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.

While redshirting my Freshman year I fell behind early in the semester and dug myself in a hole. I was close to becoming ineligible so I had to enroll in summer school keeping me from going home for the summer. As a freshman, I had a hard time not being able to go home for the first time. It allowed me to grow as a young adult and become more independent.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?

If I did not play football I would play basketball. Basketball was my first sport when I was young until I decided to play football.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?

Something I am proud of is being a first-generation college graduate. It was very heartwarming to see how proud my family was of me, which made me feel accomplished. My biggest achievement is receiving First Team All-American honors. I put in a lot of work so it is awarding to be recognized on a national scale.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.

The most memorable play of my career was my redshirt freshman year against Western New Mexico. It was the start of the fourth quarter of a tied ballgame and we were on defense, the very first play of them coming on offense I caught my first career interception and returned it for a touchdown. We went on to win the game and I ended up getting the game ball from my teammates. As a freshman, that atmosphere was very electrifying and unforgettable.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?

My favorite athlete is Odell and my favorite team is the New Orleans Saints. I model my game after Jalen Ramsey. The swagger and confidence he has brings a high level of energy to the team and I feel that I relate to that with my team.

What gets you “pumped up” before a game?

My pre-game ritual is listening to music and watching highlights of myself and others. Listening to Lil Wayne gets me ready to go and in a good mindset.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?

In my spare time, I play video games, preferably 2K, Madden, or Call of Duty. I also like to hoop during my free time.

Why do you play football? Who or what motivates you the most?

I play football because it has always been a dream of mine to become a professional athlete. I have been playing football since I was 6 and have been in love with the game ever since. My mother is my motivation because she always sacrifices for me so that I can play the game that I love. She has always given me everything I have needed and wanted even though she was not always in the best position to do so. I believe she is the most supportive of my aspirations of playing in the NFL.

What do you want NFL teams to know about you?

I am a hardworking, motivated athlete that is willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. I would refer to myself as an asset, not a liability, and will always play my role on the team and then some. I’m a versatile athlete who can make plays in all three phases of the game.
