2024 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Yuri Brady, DB, University of Mary

What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2024 NFL Draft

I believe I’m a top prospect because of my ability to accept coaching and my height for my position. I’m willing to do anything I can to get on the field to make plays.

At what age were you first interested in the sport of football?

I became interested in football at the age of six.

What is one thing that NFL teams should know about you?

That God has brought me this far and shaped me into the person I am now.

If you could donate to one cause in the world, what would it be?

I would donate to the Meals on Wheels Organization because I lost my grandfather two years ago to health problems. I chose this organization because I would like to help the elderly eat healthier foods to reduce health issues related to improper eating.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I received was, “Every day you wake up, you have another chance to accomplish your dream.”

Who was your childhood hero?

My grandad (A.D. Brown).

Who is the most underrated teammate in your locker room at your school?

The most underrated teammate in our locker room is Asmerom Mahammad.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

People who participate in sports for a jersey.

Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?

There have been numerous moments of my life that I would define as hard, but there are two moments out of all of them that have been the hardest. Losing my grandfather was the first moment that was hard for me. He was the one who believed in me to make it to college to play football and was the only support system that I had to help me with anything that I may need in college. Losing him forced me into a position of growth. The second hardest moment in my life was tearing my ACL for a third time and wondering if I was still supposed to play football. I made it this far through all the ups and downs, and I’m still playing after three ACL tears.

Tell me something about your school and why it is so special to you?

Something special about the school  is how the staff all around campus treat you like you’re their own children and adults.

What is your favorite snack food?

My favorite snack food is fruit snacks!

What is the best part of football?

The best part about football is when I step on the field and make plays and watch my teammates make plays. Watching the hard work from the past weeks get rewarded on game days.

If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?

I have many strengths to bring to the table, and I can learn a lot more. I also am a hard-working individual who doesn’t back down from challenges.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be?

I wouldn’t compare myself to any player in the NFL because I like to watch all the corners and safeties and pull bits and pieces from what they do to try to make it my own.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would it be and why?

  • The first person would be Steve Harvey. I believe that Steve is the definition of a person who faced adversity and didn’t give up.
  • Secondly, it would be Steve Jobs, the reason for this is because he took a chance on an idea he had and made it.
  • Lastly, it would be Mike Todd. I chose him as my last one because I am a Christian, and I would like to know how he dealt with times when he lost faith in himself and God.
