This weekend is full of great football games for the USFL, The four and three (4-3) Philadelphia Stars will face off against the five and two (5-2) Birmingham Stallions in a great week eight battle.
Week seven recap for Stars
The Stars played a great game against the Pittsburgh Maulers. The Stars would win the week seven matchup 37-31, and the team was firing on all cylinders. Cookus looked great, and Matt Colburn II was outstanding! Matt Colburn II would record 20 attempts for 82 yards and two touchdowns, a great game all around for the Stars in week seven. The team can now clinch playoffs with a week eight win, first in the north again!
Three names to look out for Stars
Stars: Case Cookus, the Quarterback has seemed to improve week in and week out, the numbers are rising up in the rankings. The QB would attempt 30 passes and complete 18 (18-30) For 235 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Cookus would record a 93.1 QBR and a 60% completion percentage, Cookus is the first player to watch. “Let him cook” Some people would say.
Stars: Corey Coleman, the former NFL wideout is looking to return to the league. Coleman would leave his mark in week seven, with four receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown; Coleman is very explosive, it is fair to say Corey Coleman is back.
Stars: LaBryan Ray, the former New England Patriot defensive tackle put the league on notice, do not run the ball near this guy! Ray would record four tackles and two sacks, he would also add three tackles for a loss in week seven. The Stars have a great defensive tackle in LaBryan Ray, he will continue to improve.
Week seven recap for Stallions
The Stallions won in an action-packed game over the New Orleans Breakers 24-20! Alex McGough was great as always, and CJ Marable would step up and make his presence heard. The defense is really stepping up to that next step and shutting down every opposing offense. The best team in the league, by far.
Three names to look out for Stallions
Stallions: Alex McGough, HE. IS. LEGIT. The quarterback would attempt 16 passes and complete 23, (16-23) for 176 yards with one touchdown! Alex McGough would record a QBR of 106.4 as well as a completion percentage of 69.6%.
Stallions: CJ Marable, the shifty running back would record 17 rushing attempts for 86 yards! The running back would set up the offense for a great position to score, Marable is dynamic he would also record six receptions for 52 yards. HE SHOWED OUT.
Stallions: Quentin Poling, The hard-hitting linebacker would have himself a WEEK. Poling would earn Defensive Player of week seven, well deserved! With 11 tackles and two sacks, he made sure that the Breakers offense knew he was there.
My Final Thoughts:
I would say to pay attention to how the Stars offense matches up with the Stallions defense. If the Stars can not get anything going, the Stallions have a clear path to victory. Philadelphia defense will have to shut down Alex McGough and company.
