What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

What made me want to be a football player was seeing my big brother play during his time and seeing how good and dedicated he was to the game which ultimately inspired me to play.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moment would have to be this past season winning our rivalry game and seeing all the trials and tribulations we went through all season not be a waste.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

Definitely my mom, she’s been through a lot and she’s always kept a smile on her face through it all, her hard work and resiliency in life has reflected on me greatly and I wouldn’t be in this position without the sacrifices she’s made for me.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would hang out with Derwin James. He’s the best safety in the league right now and I would love to learn how he views the game and what it takes to be at the top level.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Anderson?

My favorite things about playing for Anderson is the brotherhood we built this past spring and the competitiveness we have with each other whether it’s in the weight room or on the field we’re always competing.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

I’m looking forward to accomplishing the goals I’ve set for myself this year and looking forward to showing the nation what we have going at Anderson.

What should we know about Lazarus Davis the person?

Hardworking and doesn’t give up, no matter what I’m doing or the task put in front of me I’m gonna work at it to the best of my ability and not give up on it after a failed attempt. I’ve translated that to the field by working on my craft daily and being open to try new techniques to improve my game.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

My favorite defensive scheme is the 4-2-5 defensive because it allows the two interior linebackers to focus on the box and allows the five defensive backs to play more athletic and free. This defense allows me to be versatile in the secondary and be able to play any spot whether it’s safety, corner, or nickel.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

The way I handle challenges on and off the field is with a calm mindset and to think through my options getting as many outcomes as I can before taking action. If the challenge gets the best of me I learn and grow stronger from it.

What would a team get in a player like you?

They would get a hard worker and a student of the game. They would get a player who is willing and loves to be coached and a player who puts others before themselves. Overall they’d get a physical & patient DB who puts themselves in the position to be successful every play and who can read an offense and dissect the play before it even happens.

What stands out about your film the most?

What stands out about my film the most is my physicality and route/play recognition. Whether it’s when I’m pressing a WR or getting off blocks I’m always attacking with a purpose.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Trey Staley is definitely the most underrated player I’ve played with because he started every game in college since his freshman year and he’s never been scored on with many targets and had 3 interceptions in a one game alone.
