What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I decided to become a football player as a young kid, and it really started because my parents put me in a flag football league. After that I’ve continued to play football throughout my whole life.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
Some of my favorite football moments have to come from high school and college. Getting to play both sides of the ball in high school was exciting and playing with my childhood friends was something I’ll remember forever. My favorite football moment is when I won a conference championship with New Haven in 2021.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
It’s hard to pick between my parents, so I’ll just go with my mom and dad. They both have done so much for me, and I appreciate how hard they work. I have learned how to work hard and become a good man from my parents.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
There are many things I’m looking forward to in my upcoming season and the biggest one is our season opener. Our season opener is a Thursday night game in New Haven against Frostburg State. I have not played a home night game in my whole career at New Haven, so it will be a great atmosphere for sure.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
If there was one former player I could hang out with for a day, it would be Gronk. I love Rob Gronkowski and spending a day with him would be crazy. He’s an electric guy and I would love to pick his brain about football/life.
What are your favorite things about playing football for New Haven?
One of my favorite things about playing football for New Haven is playing on the blue turf. There’s no better feeling than playing on the blue. We also have a great atmosphere for division 2 football in the northeast.
What should we know about Kevin Foelsch the person?
Couple things you should know about me is that I love football and there’s only three things I love more which is God, my family, and friends. The most important thing you should know about me is that I’m always trying to improve myself everyday football wise and in life as well.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
My favorite offensive scheme is our play action schemes they have for me. A lot of my bigger plays have come from play action and my coach does a good job scheming up play action plays that showcase my athletic ability.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
There are a few ways I handle challenges in my life and on the football field. Football definitely helps with my problems/challenges off the field because for me football is a place where I can get away from those things. Football for me is a huge stress reliever to my life. The best way I handle challenges is to not give up and to grind through them.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would be getting a guy who loves the grind of all the aspects of football and someone who will show up dedicated to work.
What stands out about your film the most?
My ability to be a well-balanced tight end. In my film you can see I can catch the ball well, run multiple type of routes, and I’m willing to put my hand in the dirt to block as well.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
The most underrated player I’ve played with was Shawn Tafe. He played safety here at New Haven and he is someone I have great respect for. He had great ball skills, and it was always difficult to create separation on him. He was also a great leader and teammate.
