Player Summary:
5th YR SR and 1 YR full-time starter at EDGE where he lines up in a 2 pt stance as well as a 5T in the 3-3-5 heavy Nickel defense of TXHT. He transferred from NYCN prior to the 2022 season where he played SAF. He possesses quality height with ordinary weight and a lean, athletic build. He is a good athlete showing a combination of good acceleration, COD, balance, explosiveness, lateral quickness, and agility with above-average play speed. He is an above-average pass rusher who shows good get off at the snap. He displays quality UOH in his punch placement and timing while displaying a solid repertoire of pass rush moves including bullrush, rip, longarm, and a spin move before disengaging from OT with adequate length, physical toughness, and play strength. He exhibits good twitch, lateral quickness and agility as he twists and stunts towards the A gap. He uses his very good closing speed and range in pursuit before finishing up with a sack or a hurry. He shows good ability vs. the run. He is quick off the LOS and shows very good FBI as he quickly reads run/pass. He uses his quality range and closing speed to pursue RB with average AA from the backside. He displays good hip explosiveness as he makes the tackle behind the LOS for a TFL. He is average in coverage as he can cover RB with ordinary play speed in the flat. He plays with an excellent motor as he plays until the whistle consistently. He displays above-average competitive toughness as he rises to the occasion on 3rd and 4th down in the red zone. Lack of quality hip and ankle flexion prevents him from bending at the apex allowing OT who bend at the knee to stalemate him at the LOS. Subpar play strength combined with ordinary counter ability prevents him from quickly disengaging from OT with solid grip strength, length, and UOH.
Scheme Fit:
EDGE in 3-4
Power Statement:
Intelligent, athletic player who is highly productive against the run and pass. Subpar play strength and lack of quality flexibility prevents him from quickly disengaging from OT with good size and grip strength.
