What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I became a football player because of the opportunity to physically dominate the guy in front of me and the brotherhood and bonds it creates, and I gained a strong passion for it.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moments from my football life are when I gained a D1 scholarship. I felt like that was far fetched coming from where I’m from and most football players stop playing after high school so it was a huge achievement for me personally.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

Family member that inspires me the most is my mother, no matter how hard times get shit figured out in a way to make sure we are good. I learn a lot from her.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

What I’m looking forward to this upcoming season is winning it all, last year we got to the championship and didn’t finish strong so now it’s a chip on my shoulder and we are coming for everything we left last year.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

If I could hang out with any football player it would be Trent Williams because I feel I could learn so much from him that will enhance my game, his style of play is unique but very effective.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Southern?

My favorite thing about playing football at Southern is the culture, the atmosphere on game day is like no other, being from New Jersey but embracing the Louisiana tradition has been a fun experience.

What should we know about Eli Fields the person?

What you should know about Eli Fields the person is I’m a determined and passionate individual who thrives on challenges. I have a strong work ethic and enjoy pushing myself to achieve my goals plus I’m a pretty cool character I like to think.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

Favorite offensive scheme is any gap scheme, I feel like it allows me to display my athleticism the most and if we all execute our assignments I can’t see anyone stopping it.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

The way I handle challenges in life and football is through faith, I put God first and I have so much faith in him that any challenge I feel is already handled.

What would a team get in a player like you?

What a team would get with me is definitely a tone setter. Any field I’m on I like to set the tone and let them know early that this is going to be a challenge for you. I like to believe anyone I went up against ever felt my presence physically and that’s the reputation I plan on maintaining.

What stands out about your film the most?

What stands out about my film the most is my urge to dominate, yes I like to get the job done and be consistent but I also intend on opposing my opponents will every play.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Most underrated player I play with is Corione Harris, when I say tone setter he was a big tone setter on the defense last season he showed he was the best on the field and I feel he didn’t get the shot he deserved.
