Eric Barriere Jr signs with New Jersey Generals of USFL

Written by Karver Jordan

Eric Barriere is a former Eastern Washington University quarterback and he had quite the career there. The former Michigan Panthers QB and now New Jersey General QB is ready to go, Barriere is hungry.

About the player: Eric Barriere, New Jersey Generals, QB

Age: 25

Height and Weight six foot one inch (6’1”) 210 Pounds

2021 College Season:

In the 2021 season, Eric Barriere was awesome. Great ball security, the numbers show it. In 2021 the QB would attempt 522 passes and complete 361 of the passes. (361-552) Barriere would have 5,070 yards with 46 touchdowns and ONLY eight interceptions, Barriere would record a completion percentage of 65.4% GREAT NUMBERS. The kid was special for EWU, he was dominant on the ground as well. 89 carries for 222 yards with four touchdowns, great numbers from the six foot one quarterback.

College career numbers:

Oh boy, Barriere had quite the career; In 51 total games played the quarterback would attempt 1,623 passes and complete 1,007 of those (1,007-1,623) for 13,809 yards with 121 touchdowns and only 29 interceptions. GOOD NUMBERS, WOAH was my instant reaction. Only a completion percentage of 0.62%, could use improvement but overall solid numbers. On the ground, Barriere would have 376 rushing attempts for 1,585 yards with 22 touchdowns

Proday:

Eric Barriere would have a good day at the pro day.

40 Yard-Dash: 4.77 Seconds | Thoughts: Good Numbers from Barriere, average speed.

Vertical Jump: 38.00” | Thoughts: Good, the kid is athletic.

Shuttle: 4.55 seconds | Thoughts: An around athlete is what you can call him.

Professional Career:

In 2022, The former EWU QB would get his shot in the USFL. He would record 24 attempted passes and would 14 completions. (14-24) for 118 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The USFL Michigan Panthers would release him following week seven of the 2023 season unfortunately. Next up in his journey, he will be headed to the Generals of the USFL, What a signing by the Generals.

My final thoughts:

I mean, this is a good signing for the Generals. Losing Deandre Johnson is a huge loss for that team, I wish nothing but the best for him. This signing is going to be good for the future plans of this team. Eric Barriere really never got the chance to show up in Michigan this will give him the chance to prove himself.
