Player Summary:
RS SR and 4 yr full-time starter at DL in the 3-3-5 and 2-4-5 Nickel defense of NCGW where he shows very good position versatility aligning at 1T, 2i, 3T, 4i and 5T. He possesses poor height with ordinary weight, solid speed and marginal length with a powerful build. He is an ordinary athlete showing a combination of average explosiveness, balance, lateral quickness and agility, COD, mediocre acceleration and average play speed. He is solid overall against the run. He shows average burst off the ball with good UOH in his timing and placement as he wins the chest of IOL with subpar length and play strength. He locates the ball carrier showing good instincts as he takes good angles in pursuit and makes the tackle near the LOS preventing a gain of significant yardage. He is an average pass rusher. He exhibits average get off and executes a bullrush with an occasional swat and swim. He uses his solid play strength to push the pocket and walk back the OG with ordinary size, UOH and physical toughness before disengaging. He plays with an above-average motor in pursuit and finishes up with a sack or a QBH against QB with ordinary play speed. He displays average lateral quickness and agility as he executes a twist towards the A gap. He exhibits solid mental toughness which enables him to elevate his play in the 4th qtr as well as against tougher competition. He plays at an adequate pad level which prevents him from consistently making a pile against double-team blocks from flexible G/T with good play strength. He is slow to counter which combined with a mediocre pass rush move repertoire and marginal length, prevents him from quickly disengaging against OG with solid length and reactive athleticism against the run and pass.
Scheme Fit:
IDL in a 4-3.
Power Statement:
A versatile, experienced player who is solid against the run and can push the pocket against OG with ordinary play strength as a pass rusher. He compensates for his marginal length with good UOH. Lack of quality counter moves causes him to quickly disengage against OL with good athleticism, length and UOH.
