The Breakdown

Senior.  Starts at LT.  Great playing experience as a four-year starter.  Played RT in 2019 and spent the rest of his career at LT.  Strong and sturdy OT with good skills in pass protection and good run blocking skills and the size and athleticism to play in the pros.  In pass protection, he is good.  Plays with a wide base, keeps defenders between his feet, and does a good job of mirroring rushers and staying square.  Has quick feet, a quick first step, and a good lateral set.  Has a tough time v. EDGE/9 technique rushers; will get up on his toes and walked back, was especially noticeable against Clemson.  As a run blocker he is good.  Has great leg drive and runs his feet on contact.  Displays ability to dent defenders and drive them off the ball.  Does a good job of combo-blocking to the 2nd level and firing forward at a low pad level.  Is a good puller but struggles to find defenders at the 2nd level.  Needs to work on hand placement and strike timing in both phases of the game; tends to be outside the pads which exposes his chest and causes him to fall off blocks.  Good finisher.
