Did Ravens admit that Deshaun Watson’s contract complicated things for Lamar Jackson?
We all know the Cleveland Browns made a mistake when they gave Deshaun Watson a fully guaranteed deal worth 230 million dollars.
Right now, there are rumors that Lamar Jackson is holding out for a fully guaranteed contract because he feels he too deserves a contract similar. The Ravens and Lamar Jackson have made very little progress since starting negotiations and that is what ultimately led to the Ravens placing the non-exclusive franchise tag because they figured they would let another team set the value for their star quarterback.
Ozzie Newsome the VP of football for the Ravens sat down with Bernie Kosar on the “Bernie Kosar Show” and explained how the Deshaun Watson deal made it tough for the Ravens.
Here is the quote:
“Every club has to do what they have to do with contracts and with drafting,” Newsome said. “I’ve got enough problems dealing with this club that, you know what, I don’t worry about (that). But our owner did say that contract did create some problems. What we have to figure out is if that’s gonna be the norm or if that’s an outlier.”
Do you think Lamar Jackson deserves a fully guaranteed deal? Maybe you do maybe you don’t but right now, that is the new going rate for quarterbacks and I do not think Lamar is wrong for asking for it.
