Green Bay Packers need to hold out for a First Round Pick and more for Aaron Rodgers
Hear me out, The Green Bay Packers right now have all the leverage in the trade of Aaron Rodgers. Yesterday, Aaron Rodgers joined Pat McAfee Show to tell the viewers about his situation between the New York Jets and the Green Bay Packers, and Rodgers was very clear he wants to be a Jet.
“I made it clear my intention was to play and to play for the New York Jets, and I haven’t been holding anything up. It’s the compensation that the Packers are trying to get. … The Packers want to move on and have let me know that in so many words,” he said.
Rodgers said it himself, he said it comes down to the compensation that the Packers are trying to get. I understand that the Jets want him, but now their fan base is going to want him even more.
If the Packers are smart they would hold out as long as possible. Get the Jets to send over the first round pick they want and more. They hold all the keys. They have the cap space and can make Rodgers life hell.
The Jets on the other hand lost all their leverage by Rodgers confession. It actually is going to put more pressure on the Jets. Rodgers could have actually helped out the franchise that discovered him.
Adam Schefter said that it was his “understanding” that the Packers felt Rodgers was worth a package of two first-round picks, like the Lions got from the Rams for Matthew Stafford, but another report came out yesterday refuting that, saying the Packers would take a package deal but did not have to be two firsts.
The Packers are holding up the New York Jets from signing free agents. So this is a smart thing. The Jets are basically handcuffed to Aaron Rodgers.
Do you think Rodgers is going to be okay in New York? The media and fans in the city are brutal. While their fans are amazing and their tailgates are amazing, Speaking of tailgates, if you are looking for a tailgate generator, look no further than Growatt. I mean at least you can cook some food because this Rodgers deal may not happen overnight!
I would not expect Aaron Rodgers to the Jets very soon.
