Are the Patriots players divided between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe?
Last year the New England Patriots struggled on offense, but their defense was amazing. There were points where both Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe had to lead their teams out on the field, and now there are reports, that the players were divided in the locker room.
During an appearance on “The Greg Hill Show” on WEEI, former Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty revealed that there were some guys in the locker room that thought the team should give Zappe a shot.
I think player-wise there was enough trust that we’re going to put the best guy out there. But the struggles on offense, I think there were some guys in the locker room that were like, ‘Let’s go with Zappe.’ Or, ‘No, Mac looked good today.’ It was just a back-and-forth, which to me, spoke more about what we had on offense than the quarterback. We never were solidified as an offensive group that guys had full confidence in anything we were doing. There was never true hope.
The Patriots have since added some weapons to their arsenal in Juju Smith Schuster and Mike Gesicki but it will be interesting to see who “hoodie” decides to start. Do you think Bailey Zappe can beat out Mac Jones to start for the Patriots? I am not sure if Mac Jones is a lcok at this point to start for the Patriots. It could be an interesting preseason in Foxborough.
