Expect Derek Carr to be released by 3:59 today | Raiders to cut their Franchise QB

Derek Carr is about to be cut by the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to reports, if Derek Carr is not cut by 4:00pm today the Raiders would be on the hook for 40.4 million in injury guarantees that would convert to full guarantees.

Carr told the Raiders last week he would not complete a trade and demanded his release.

The Raiders and Carr are definitely looking at a break-up. It will be interesting to see what teams have interest in him.

I would assume the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets to all at least call the veteran signal caller.

We will see what happens, but Carr’s career as a Raiders is officially over.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Carr helped the Raiders reach the playoffs during the 2016 season, the franchise’s first appearance since 2002. He led Las Vegas to another postseason berth in 2021. Following a 2022 season that missed expectations, he lost the starting job and agreed with Raiders leadership to step away from the team for the remainder of the season.

This was a case of a bad contract for the Raiders. On April 12, 2022, Carr signed a three-year, $121.5 million contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders, including a no-trade clause, a year later they are releasing him.
