What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2023 NFL Draft?
I have a high ceiling and a strong work ethic. I’m tall for a punter, I have long legs, and I’m a lefty.
At what age were you first interested in the sport of football?
Around 5 or 6. I played a lot in my backyard. I really liked the kickers so I would practice by kicking and punting into trees.
What is one thing that NFL teams should know about you?
I never expect anything to happen for me, I go earn it.
If you could donate to one cause in the world, what would it be?
I would donate to the Catholic Church or youth sports.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
“Don’t hope they give you the job, make them have to give it to you.”
Who was your childhood hero?
Besides my parents, Joe Mauer.
Who is the most underrated teammate in your locker room at your school?
Tanner Miller from Valencia, CA.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
People cutting in line, especially at airports.
Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?
Moving to Oregon from Iowa. I never went on a visit, I just took a shot and tried my best to make it work. I had a lot to figure out and in the end I broke two school records.
Tell me something about your school and why it is so special to you?
Oregon State gave me everything I needed to be successful. Whether it was on the field or in the classroom, I had resources to help get me to where I wanted to be. Corvallis helped me become the person I wanted to be.
What is your favorite snack food?
Pretzel bites with nacho cheese
What is the best part of football?
A good locker room victory celebration
If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?
I have proven I can be successful by breaking multiple school records while earning a master’s degree in structural engineering.
If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be?
Matt Haack, he’s a lefty from Iowa who played in the PAC-12.
If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Mike Leach, Dave Portnoy, Robin Williams. When they talk, it’s all over the place so it would be entertaining.
