Jets remain committed to Zach Wilson, but just hired the man that ruined Russell Wilson
The New York Jets just made a head scratching move. The Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator and then announced in a press conference they are still committed to Zach WIlson.
I am sorry but the Jets are on the up and up if they can just find a quarterback. They drafted extremely well this past year landing four to five solid starters in one draft. It is not that often you can hit on your picks, and the Jets looked like geniuses.
But when it comes to hiring an OC, they picked Nathaniel Hackett. Hackett is the guy that everyone thought would lead the Broncos deep in the playoffs, because they made a huge deal to acquire Russell Wilson. Well, Russell Wilson looked like the worst quarterback in the NFL after just one season with Hackett on the Broncos.
How is Nathaniel Hackett going to fix Zach Wilson and the Jets offense?
I am not sure I like this hire for Robert Saleh, this could be the move that ultimately causes the Jets to implode. Nathaniel Hackett is not a very good coach, I know some like him but he is not a great offensive mind.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters that the team is “committed to finding a veteran.” He said that was a big focus when interviewing offensive coordinator candidates and ultimately deciding to hire Nathaniel Hackett.
Hackett is a former long-time assistant to Doug Marrone, Hackett previously served as the offensive coordinator for the NFL’s Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, as well as several positions for the Syracuse Orange in college football from 2010 to 2012.
The only time Hackett had a solid performance was under the Packers and with Aaron Rodgers. With Aaron Rodgers potentially becoming a free agent, would he be able to make it in New York?
I am not sure there are many veteran quarterbacks willing to work with Hackett at this point. If the Packers were smar they would offer up Aaron Rodgers to the Jets because I do not have much faith in Hackett as their OC. Shoot and you trade him out of the NFC.
Do you think the Jets made the right choice?
