Report: Mississippi State Head Football Coach Mike Leach has passed away at the age of 61
Mike Leach the legendary offensive minded coach has passed away at the age of 61.
Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach was transported to a nearby hospital and according to a statement released by Ross Reily of the Mississippi Clarion Ledger, Leach collapsed at his home in Starkville suffering from a massive heart attack.
Medical attention was not received for 10-15 minutes. They had to use a defibrillator to restore his heartbeat.
Mike Leach is known for building the best offenses in college football utilizing the Air-Raid Offense. He was an offensive coordinator for Valdosta State, Iowa Wesleyan, and Kentucky in the 90’s. Leach has broken tons of NCAA records.
Mike Leach was the head coach at Mississippi State University. He was a two-time national coach of the year, three-time conference coach of the year and the mastermind behind the NCAA record-setting air raid offense. He was previously the head coach at Texas Tech University from 2000 to 2009, where he became the winningest coach in school history, and at Washington State University from 2012 to 2019, where he recorded the third-most wins of any coach in school history.
