Hall of Fame QB says Russell Wilson is too small to stand in the pocket, and he is to blame not the coaching staff

“Aaron Rodgers, I could understand giving up that sort of package, but not Russell,” an executive from an NFC team told Fowler. “Denver didn’t have any familiarity with the player or his fit in the system, and he’s declining as an aging, smaller quarterback.”
Can the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson live up the hype?

Warren Moon knows what it takes to make it in the NFL, he was very successful, but when he sat down with Jason Cole of OutKick, he quickly had a harsh take on Russell Wilson. Moon was the broadcaster for a long time in Seattle but claims Russell Wilson always wanted to be a pocket passer, but he is quickly realizing he is too short to do that.

Moon says people need to stop blaming the coach, and blame Russell.

“Everybody wants to blame the coach,” Moon said, via Jason Cole of OutKick. “But this is what Russell wanted. He wanted to be a pocket quarterback. That’s what he has always wanted.

“(Seattle) wanted to have him in the pocket about 60 percent of the time and then move him around the rest. All that stuff about, ‘Let Russ cook’ is really him talking about wanting to be in the pocket all the time. He can’t do that. He’s too short. You have to get him out in space a lot of the time to he can see everything.”

Russell Wilson looks horrible this year. Russell Wilson and Broncos have only scored 166 points and that is the worst of any team in the league. Maybe Moon has a point.
