California Star High School football player gunned down in his hometown of Victorville
Richard Reed had a bright future, as a star football player for Silverado High School. According to police reports, Reed was gunned down and pronounced dead on the scene after being found shot in his hometown of Victorville.
Silverado made the playoffs, and Reed was named an All-Desert Sky League Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, and had five touchdowns this year. He ran for 269 yards and racked up 72 tackles.
Silverado lost on Friday in the playoffs but they were able to pay homage to their teammate during a vigil before the game.
The team carried his uniform out during the game, and both teams honored the young player with a sticker on their helmet.
Reed was talented enough to be selected for varsity all four years of his high-school career.
