Player Summary:

5th yr SR and 4 yr full-time starter at CB where he plays as a RCB and LCB and is responsible for covering the #1 WR in the 3-3-5 heavy Nickel defense of SCCI. He possesses average height, ordinary weight and poor speed with a lean, muscular build. He is an average athlete showing a combination of solid explosiveness, average COD, balance, acceleration, lateral quickness and agility with average top end play speed. He is average in press-man overall. He is aggressive with his hands and uses his solid play strength and physical toughness to slow down WR with ordinary size and play speed. He does a solid job of matching the feet of the WR as he mirrors the route and uses his average play speed to stay in phase with WR who possess ordinary athleticism. He is solid in off-man as he plays with a good cushion and keeps WR with average play speed in front of him. He reacts quickly to the ball being thrown and shows good closing speed before making the tackle or pushing the WR out of bounds preventing a gain of significant yardage on underneath routes. He is solid in zone as he effectively patrols the flat and deep third of the field in cover 2 and 3 respectively while reading the QB. He is above-average against the run. He quickly reads run/pass and sheds the block from WR with subpar play strength. He exhibits good instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit, plays at a good pad level and shows solid hip explosiveness as he makes the tackle on RB with solid size and average play speed. He has ordinary ball skills due to him struggling to consistently time his hands correctly as he attempts to disrupt the trajectory of the ball for a PBU. Lack of quality play speed prevents him from staying in phase in man coverage against WR with good play speed on vertical routes and recover if beaten initially.

Scheme Fit:

CB in Cover 2 scheme due to his prowess against the run and his lack of elite play speed to stay in phase with WR with quality AA on vertical routes while in man coverage.

Power Statement:

An aggressive, experienced player who excels as a run defender and does a good job of defending underneath routes in zone and man. Lack of quality play speed prevents him from staying in phase with WR with good play speed on vertical routes while in man coverage and recover if beaten initially.
