Player Summary:

6th yr GR and 1 yr full-time starter at RB in the zone/gap blocking scheme of VAJM where he is the 1st RB in a rotation and receives approximately 10-20 carries per game. He has good height, average weight with adequate speed and a muscular build. He is an average athlete showing a combination of good COD, solid lateral quickness and agility, average acceleration and explosiveness with ordinary balance and average top end play speed. He shows solid vision as he finds the open hole or cutback lane with solid SAQ to bend it back or bounce it to the outside if need be. He shows average burst through the hole and does a very good job of finishing the run by falling forward for extra yardage. He is above-average in pass pro as he locates the blitzing LB/DB, squares his shoulders before using his solid play strength and UOH to impede the progress of the defender giving the QB extra time to pass the ball. In the passing game, he mainly runs swing and flat routes and in rare instances where he is targeted, he shows average hands as he makes the catch with his hands close to his body. He plays with good competitive toughness both physically when engaged 1on1 with a defender in pass pro and mentally as he doesn’t shy away from contact when running the ball. Adequate contact balance and power prevent him from breaking tackles from LB who play with good leverage, form tackling ability and explosiveness. Lack of quality play speed prevents him from gaining significant YAC and turning the corner on outside runs if LB/DB with good AA are near him. In addition, his lack of quality AA prevents him from possessing good playmaking ability when running the ball as he struggles to outrun LB/DB with good AA in the open field.

Scheme Fit:

RB in zone scheme.

Power Statement:

Experienced, tough player who could be a 3 down back due to his solid ability in pass pro. Lack of quality contact balance and play speed prevent him from being more productive.
