Player Summary:
LT starter, Sr. Does not possess the proper size to play tackle at the next level while also being somewhat undersized for guard as well. He owns decent athleticism and fine strength. Built with a thick upper half and average lower half with room to grow – currently weighing in at 299lb. Not surprised at why he plays LT for HIUN. He is a much better pass protector than run blocker. As a pass protector, he is really good. He is quick off the line. He has a good initial punch. He does an excellent job keeping his hands inside the defender and latching onto them without letting go. He has a wide base and shows decent balance. He is able to keep defenders between his feet most of the time. He does an average job sinking his hips and gaining leverage. He owns average awareness, and does a fair job against the blitz and picking up stunts. As a run blocker, he is mediocre. He does an honorable job moving guys off the LOS. When he pulls, he does not seem quick. He gets to the second level occasionally, yet has a hard time latching onto second level defenders. Needs to improve second level hand placement. Not sure how flexible he is, would like to get a better look at that.
Scheme Fit:
LG/RG
Power Statement:
Manning is an intriguing prospect for a few reasons. Being undersized gives him room to grow. Although he is undersized, he is good at executing his job on the field. He is already good at pass pro and would just need to work a bit more on his run blocking. With proper development I believe Manning has a shot to add value to an NFL team.
