Pittman’s Pocket: What really went down around the HBCU in Week 7
Jackson State dominated Bethune Cookman 48-8 in TIAA Bank Stadium, the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. JSU Tigers defense finished with three safeties against Bethune Cookman. Heisman Candidate Shedeur Sanders had a couple turnovers but still came away with over 272 yards passing 5 Touchdowns. Coach Prime finished the weekend on 60 minutes last night, shining even more light on HBCU football!
There was a great game on Thursday night when NCCU defeated Morgan State 59-20. Davius Richard of NCCU made an statement and a difference with throwing 17 for 24 for 217 yards against a well Morgan State Bears defense led by Coach Wilson. Eagles finished with 530 total yards against Morgan State.
FAMU escaped the Paws of the Grambling Tigers winning a 20 to 16 game. Jah’Marae Sheread was dominating the Tigers secondary with 100 plus yards receiving. Coach Simmons got his 50th win in Eddie Robinson stadium. Congrats Coach!
Southern kept their foot on the neck of Alcorn with a 21-17 victory Saturday night. August Pitre III had 4 receptions for 127 yards and 1 Touchdown.
Bowie State lost 27-24 to #11 Virginia Union. Joshua Pryor the elite pass rusher continues to shine in front of scouts.
Benedict College defeated Albany State 24-21in a top SIAC showdown. Tigers had 406 total yards. Eric Phoenix threw for a season-high 253 yards and a touchdown. He completed 22-of-28 passes, including completing his first 11 passes of the game.
Lane College 35 – Miles College 32. Andrew Farmer had him a field day with 6 tackles and a sack. The Hula Bowl nominee was very disruptive all game long.
