Orlando thrill ride that claimed the life of a star young football player will be demolished

Tyre Sampson had dreams of playing in the NFL. The 6’5, 330 pound 14-year-old died when he fell to the ground of one of the largest free fall rides in the world.

The Orlando Thrill Ride that was responsible for the death of Tyre Sampson, a 14-year-old star football player will be torn down and demolished.

The Slingshot Group released a statement on Thursday that it will tear down the 400 foot attraction that was responsible for the death of a 14-year-old football player who was visiting from Missouri.

They are not just tearing down the ride, they are going to honor Tyre with a scholarship in his name.

“We are devastated by Tyre’s death. We have listened to the wishes of Tyre’s family and the community, and have made the decision to take down the FreeFall. In addition, Orlando Slingshot will honor Tyre and his legacy in the classroom and on the football field by creating a scholarship in his name.”

The rides at ICON Park have been closed since March, after Sampson slipped out of his seat halfway down the freefall and died.
