Player Summary:
RT Starter, RS Sr. Possesses rare size accompanied with significant strength – 6’8 1⁄2” with long arms, a big chest, and broadened shoulders. Weighing in at 331, fits perfectly into his stature. A monstrous frame at OT who excels most in the passing game, while also adding good value in the run game. In pass protection, he shines, acting as a wall against oncoming rushers. Good lateral quickness allows him to get his hands inside against rushers which he latches onto. Has good mental processing which leads to identifying twists and stunts as they develop. Plays with a quick punch and good timing against rushers due to good instincts. Has very good latch in pass pro, using strong hands and long arms to keep defenders between his feet and mirror them while working laterally. Showcases a good anchor due to keeping a wide base and staying over his toes with his feet sunk in the ground. Plays well against power moves, using his strength and size to restrain rushers. Adequate ability against speed moves due to lackluster COD and flexibility. Plays with aggression and executes his assignments in the passing game. In the run game, he has useful size and strength. He comes off the ball slow; however, makes up for it with his long reach. Good puller who can get to the second level due to his lateral quickness and use his strength to initiate contact. Displays ability to latch onto LBs. Although, can get beat due to relying on size and strength alone while lunging at moving targets. Below-average in space due to a lack of COD and balance. Plays with physicality in the run game with a competitive drive.
Scheme Fit:
RT/LT
Power Statement:
Dalton is a very good pass protector with good value in the run game as well. He plays with good technique in the passing game and could improve his technique in the run game. He is a draftable prospect with value to add to an NFL team.
