Player Summary:

5th YR SR and 2 yr full-time starter at LB in the hybrid defense of LAST with 3 and 4-down linemen where he shows good position versatility as he has played all 3 LB positions. He has poor height and weight with good speed and a muscular build with poor length. He is a solid athlete showing a combination of good COD and balances with solid explosiveness, acceleration lateral quickness, and agility with good top-end play speed. Against the run, he displays good football intelligence as he reads run/pass and shows solid range, instincts and lateral quickness, and agility in pursuit. Solid play strength enables him to stack OL and TE with subpar play strength and UOH at the point of attack. Plays with good leverage as he makes the tackle on inside runs and outside zones preventing a gain of significant yardage. Against the pass, he is above average in man coverage as he uses his solid athletic ability to stay in phase with RB and TE with average play speed on flat and out routes and TE with adequate acceleration down the seam while in man coverage. When blitzing up the middle, he quickly penetrates the open A gap and uses his good play speed to force the QB into passing the ball earlier than anticipated. Good mental toughness as his play improves in the 4th qtr. Adequate ball skills prevent him from consistently timing his hands correctly as he attempts to disrupt the trajectory of the pass for a potential PBU. Poor length and ordinary UOH prevent him from penetrating the LOS when engaged with OL or TE with good play strength and UOH in pass pro. In addition, his poor length and ordinary UOH prevent him from disengaging against similar OL and TE on run blocks.

Scheme Fit:

ILB in 4-3 or 3-4

Power Statement:

Versatile, tough player who excels at stopping the run especially inside, and plays solid overall in man coverage. Poor length and subpar UOH prevents him from disengaging against talented OL and TE against the run and pass.
