Player Summary:
Junior Fehoko is a 5th year Jr. who aligns as an EDGE and 3-tech for SJST in a 3-4 base defense. Projects as an Edge in 3-or 4-man front. Fehoko is a solid pass rusher who is undersized as a 3-Tech yet has a good frame to excel on the edge. Solid pass rusher that plays with quick hands and above-average burst off the LOS. Possesses quality pass rush moves such as the swim and rip through, along with good play speed and pad level which help him beat lineman often within the first few steps off the edge. Quick hands allow him to swipe offensive linemen´s hands away before they can get a grasp of him. Having a good burst off the line of scrimmage allows him to beat the offensive lineman before they can get set in pass protection. When in pursuit of the QB, he plays with good closing speed and discipline, staying in his rushing lane. May struggle at times with ability to counter when an offensive lineman gets their hands on him. Plays with good instincts and vision in the backfield which helps him bat down passes if he gets initially stymied by offensive lineman. A below-average run defender when aligned as a 3-tech, struggling at times to set the edge against outside zone or power run plays. When aligned in as a 4 or 5, does a quality job vs the run. Occasionally struggles with balance and maintaining a strong base against elite level lineman which on occasion challenges his gap integrity. He plays with good lateral quickness and vision which helps him track down ball carriers in the backfield. Sufficient tackler who wraps up and tackles through the ball carrier.
Scheme Fit:
Edge in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme
Power Statement:
Junior Fehoko plays with quality speed, above-average instincts and solid hand usage as a pass rusher. He is quick out of his stance at the snap of the ball. He needs to add weight if he is to play the 3-tech as a professional. With work on his pad level/leverage ability, he should be able to compete with the competition at the next level.
