Player Summary:

5th yr GR and 2 yr full-time starter where he plays predominantly at ILB in the 3-3-5 heavy nickel defense of KYUN. Transferred from MSUN prior to the 2021 season where he started at ILB for 2 years. He possesses poor height, ordinary weight, and marginal speed with a powerful build and adequate length. He is a solid athlete showing a combination of good lateral quickness and agility with solid acceleration, ordinary COD, balance, and explosiveness with solid top-end play speed. Against the run, he quickly reads run/pass and uses his quality range with good instincts, lateral quickness, and agility in pursuit as he makes the tackle well outside the tackle box on outside zone runs. On inside runs, he uses his above-average play strength and UOH to shed the block from IOL with subpar length, play strength, AA, and UOH reaching the 2nd level at the POA. He quickly locates the RB and displays good form tackling ability as he makes the tackle in his gap preventing a gain of significant yardage. Against the pass, he shows good ball skills tracking the ball in the air. He then uses his solid closing speed to put himself in a good position to break on the ball before timing his hands well to disrupt the trajectory of the pass for a PBU. He plays with a solid motor while playing to the whistle. Demonstrates good competitive toughness as he shows the ability to make plays at the end of games when the outcome is in doubt. Subpar awareness while in zone coverage allows TE with good play speed, route running ability, and football intelligence to get open behind him. Ordinary pass rush ability as he struggles to consistently pressure the QB due to lack of quality play speed and athletic ability.

Scheme Fit:

ILB in 3-4

Power Statement:

An experienced, rangy player who excels against the run. Ordinary ability in zone coverage due to subpar awareness.
