Player Summary:

Byron Young is an SR for TNUN who generally plays at OLB in a 4-3 defense. Good height and below average weight combine for a lanky build. Good arm length with undersized hands. Solid athletic ability with great speed and above-average strength. Against the pass, hands have average strength with sufficient punch ability. Plays quicker than his 40 time suggests. Speed rush ability is good with power rush ability being marginal. His overall pass rush repertoire is very small with subpar hand usage. He mainly utilizes a swipe and/or club move. Because of his hand usage, he tends to get stuck onto the OL in the power rush. His ordinary pass rush motor is a detriment to his power rush abilities. Lacks a plan most of the time in speed and power rush. He wins his pass rush reps with great bend, quality initial quickness, great explosion, and above-average balance. With those four traits, he can blow by most offensive tackles. Against the run, he exhibits good block recognition, above-average lateral quickness, and good tackling ability. He shows quality ability at setting the edge. Leveraging ability on the edge is subpar as he tends to get stuck on OL. His leveraging ability at OLB is good with his lateral quickness and tackling ability. Has a good run defense motor. Has displayed above-average athletic ability that  allows him to effectively drop into coverage when called upon.
