Expect Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence to shine under Doug Pederson
Doug Pederson has really done a wonderful job in his career with quarterbacks, and shoot even re-inventing quarterbacks. The question is can he get Trevor Lawrence going?
Prior to getting to the Super Bowl and winning without Carson Wentz, Pederson helped both Michael Vick and Alex Smith develop.
Pederson also has a knack for having backups ready to play under adverse circumstances. I mean look at Nick Foles!
Now imagine Trevor Lawrence, who has the ability to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Pederson has 25 years plus of experience, 13 as a player, and 12 as a coach.
Vick threw for 30 touchdowns and 5600 plus yards in two years under Pederson and had a .589 completion percentage.
Then he worked with Alex Smith who was traded to the Chiefs. Pederson worked with Smith who would finish 30-16 as a starter for the Chiefs.
Before he injured his knee in week 14 n 2017, Carson Wentz more than doubled his touchdown passes as a rookie (16 to 33), halved his interceptions (14 to 7) and was on pace to become the first Eagles quarterback in history to throw for more than 4,000 yards in a season (which he surpassed in 2019). The Eagles were 11-2 with Wentz as a starter.
Add if the fact that Carson Wentz and Nick Foles won him a Super Bowl and the Jaguars fans should be smiling. I think the Jaguars finally found the right coach. If he cannot get Trevor Lawrence going, I am not sure anyone else can!
